Kate Emilie
Kate Emilie is an American writer based in London. She holds an MA in Writing for Young People from Bath Spa University, completed the Curtis Brown Creative Writing Your Novel course in London, and was a Faber Academy mentee.
Kate Emilie's debut novel, Seven Dishes to Fall in Love, won Friday Night Live at the 2025 London Festival of Writing, was named a readers' favourite and longlisted for the 2025 WriteMentor Awards, and reached the Top 100 in the 2025 Bath Novel Awards and the Top 50 in the New2TheScene Novel competition.
Seven Dishes to Fall in Love was a standout YA novel at Frankfurt Book Fair, and there was a 14-agent auction to represent Emilie. The book sold in a four-way auction in the UK with rights going to Electric Monkey, and in an eight-way auction in the US with rights going to Random House Children's Books in a major deal. Rights have also been sold in competitive auctions in Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Brazil, Portugal, Ukraine, and the Netherlands. The book will be published in July 2027, with a second book to follow in summer 2028.
