Kate Emilie

Kate Emilie is an American writer based in the UK. She holds an MA in Writing for Young People from Bath Spa University, has completed the Curtis Brown Creative 'Writing Your Novel' course in London, and was a Faber Academy mentee.

In addition to winning Friday Night Live at the 2025 London Festival of Writing, Kate Emilie's debut novel, Seven Dishes to Fall in Love, was shortlisted for the 2025 Idea Idol competition, was named a readers' favourite and longlisted for the 2025 WriteMentor Awards, reached Top 100 in the 2025 Bath Novel Awards, and reached Top 50 in the New2TheScene Winter and Summer Novel competitions.

The Bookseller called Seven Dishes to Fall in Love a "standout YA novel at Frankfurt Book Fair" and there was a 14-agent auction to represent Kate Emilie. The book has sold in competitive auctions in Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Brazil, Portugal, Ukraine, Slovakia, Czech, and the Netherlands.

US rights went to Random House Childrens Books in an 8-way auction, in a major deal, and UK and Commonwealth rights went to HarperCollins' Electric Monkey in a 4-way auction, in a six-figure deal.

Seven Dishes to Fall in Love will be published in July 2027, with a second YA speculative novel to follow summer 2028.
