Brigitta Blair
Brigitta Blair is the author-illustrator for the upcoming graphic novel, CRAMMING, that comes out with Hachette in Fall 2027. She also created the official Scrivener Standard Comic Script template and has spoken at SCBWI conferences about comic craft. Outside of publishing, she’s worked in video games as a coding goblin, and loves trying out new teas with rock music.
CRAMMING
The life of an overachieving girl is thrown off-center when she has to wear a scoliosis back brace for her final year of middle school.
When Ari discovers she has to wear a scoliosis back brace for nine months, her eighth-grade plans start to crack. Concentrating in school, kicking a soccer ball, and “fitting in” feel like a past life.
When she befriends Sky, her soccer teammate struggling with identity pressures, Ari starts to notice the ways she’s been trying to cram into the “perfect” student, athlete, and daughter role...the same mold that Sky’s been trying to break out of. With a little help from her new friend, Ari must learn to embrace her authentic self and not let the brace become her entire identity.
