HOT CITIES: KEEPING OUR COOL is a fun, solution-focused look at why cities are hotter than rural areas, and eco-friendly ways we can keep cool. It will give a kid-friendly introduction to the science behind the urban heat island effect and the many ways we can design urban spaces to keep temperatures down in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way.

The chapters explore the reasons why cities are hotter than rural areas, how urban heat islands affect people, plants and animals, how we can use smart city design to reduce the urban heat island effect and what kids can do to help reduce the urban heat island effect.
